So I’ve been getting my squares ready for SAS. What a labor of love and prayer! I am soo thankful for this opportunity, or I might never have learned how to make a granny square or gotten such good practice with a pattern. I am sending seven, but only one was non-traditional. I never printed out the other two patterns, and trying to crochet by the ‘puter with a page that kept getting stuck just didn’t work out. I never made it to the library to print them out! Two I made with some fancy, furry yarn, and I am sooo happy to have had the excuse to make myself work with it. It is soooo soft!!!!! and I’m getting quicker. I made a square in the car while we were out yesterday evening! (Only sometimes I get car sick, just like when I’m reading.
) What FUN! but OH dear friends, I am just beginning to learn exactly what FUN is….
I got a package from my dear fellow blogger Mari, and I about PASSED OUT! I knew it was filled with luscious yarn, but OH it FAR surpassed my EVERY expectation! There was a *beautiful*, sooo soft pink wool/cotton blend (I’m thinking a hat for Miss Hazel with the colorful eyelash as a trim! She doesn’t have a winter hat yet…), some lovely green (notice my two favorite colors?) handcrafted, kettle dyed pure wool from Uruguay that I’d like to try felting with (slippers for Hazel to start?), some blue and red (for hats for boys?), and then~OH be still my beating heart~luscious purple baby alpaca! OH MY!
Words could never do this yarn justice… I could cuddle with this yarn and pet it all day, every day! (I’m getting it, yarn snobs!) If you had told me in my very wildest of dreams that I would get to work with baby alpaca in my lifetime, I would’a called you CrAzY! Mari suggested a baby blanket, and I really like that idea. However, I’ve been crocheting less than a month and feel SO unworthy! I’m going to sit on it a bit~ continuing to feel it every time I pass because I can’t help it~until I’m a little more skilled at my craft and find that perfect pattern… It’s just too grand and lovely to mess up! LOL!
*THANK YOU, MARI!* What an INCREDIBLE gift you have given me! I am *SOOOOO EXCITED!* WHOOT! Your kindness and generosity have blown me away!

sandi,
you are so very welcome. your joy is contageous. and, welcome to the world of yarn snobs! lol now you know why baby alpaca is my most favorite yarn in the world to knit with. imagine knitting a blanket with it on a frosty cold winter night and how warm it feel draped across your lap as you work with it? i love it and i really feel honored to share with you.
and i agree with the others, you need to post some pictures of what you make. i made a scarf for myself with the green, and it looks really beautiful when i have on my black rain coat (remember i live in seattle and it rains 10 months a year so we wear raincoats.) i also made a purse for my niece out of the green and felted it–it felts beautifully, so slippers for hazel would be a great idea with it. let your creative instincts flow.
i am so happy you are happy. go forth and enjoy.
blessings, mari
i forgot to tell you that i wrote about you on my blog tonight. mari
*LOL* I love crocheting!! I crocheted blankets for my two girls, and am currently working on one for my nephew. I chose to double crochet the girls’ and am doing single crochet for my nephew’s. I used verigated (mixed color) yarn for all three, so thought the simple pattern would bring out the colors more, and I am very pleased with the results.
Glad you are getting such joy from crocheting!! It is so much fun, and a perfect time to pray!!!
God Bless!
Way Fun!
