There is sooo much I wanna blog about, but I have been trying to decrease the amount of time I’m on the computer. We’ve had some GLORIOUS DAYS! It’s been beautiful outside, we’ve gotten lots done and worked our schedule, and I guess just had happy attitudes. LOVE IT!
One thing I’ve been really wanting to share as my children’s birthdays come up is their birth stories. I regret that I didn’t write them all out like I did Hazel’s~you really do forget soo very much! So anyway, my darling and I will piece together what we remember from Allen’s homebirth at some point soon, I hope. He had a FANTABULOUS birthday! OH my LOVELY came to visit!!!! My cousins have such a beautiful family, and they are just incredible people. I SO wish we were neighbors! I think my Allen and their Adam would be the best of friends. Not only did they stop in for a visit, but they brought pizza and drinks and yummies and AMAZING gifts for us all to enjoy~when we were ecstatic just to hug their necks! LOL! Such a great time of fellowship! Anyway, I was proud of how Allen chose to spend his birthday monies too~a good amount to savings, he donated some, and then spent some.
For Preston’s sake we have been working towards a dust free bedroom for the boys. We changed Preston’s bed to an air mattress~which he LOVES! We will replace the fabric recliner with a hard chair and eliminate having so many surfaces as well. His skin is looking really great right now!
From my own birthday I did finally order that tape set I’ve wanted for ten years: A CHRISTIAN SURVEY OF WORLD HISTORY by Rousas John Rushdoony. WOOHOOO!
(ETA: Please, please, PLEASE make more educated choices than I did on this one! ACK! I have been enlightened to some racial views that I do not appreciate from Rushdoony~I really don’t even wanna listen to it now. DRATS! I just wasted my coveted birthday money! LOL! and I feel like such a *moron*… Time to do some digging!)
Crocheting is still a delight~I completed a baby hat and matching Mary Jane booties for an upcoming baby shower(in pink, brown, and white) and am almost finished with a dress for Hazel! AND Shelly put up a pic of my squares on her latest SAS update! Please forgive me LORD, but I’m feelin’ kinda proud… In all honesty they look much better in the pic than they do IRL! LOL!

Sandi,
I am so glad you took the time to update your site. I understand the need to decrease computer time. My husband travels A LOT for his job. When he understood that he would be on the road 25% of the time; I think he misunderstood. He is only home about 25% of the time. Anyway, when he is home, I have much less time on the computer.
Did I understand correctly that you have cousins that home school? What a terrific blessing. We are the only ones in our family that do and, well… let’s just say I am about through with getting parenting advice from them all.
I hope I don’t put a damper on your birthday gift to yourself, but please listen to Rushdoony tapes by yourself before sharing them with your children. They may be fine, but RJ Rushdoony but I would not want my child to hear all his ideas until he or she was able to critically analyze what was being said in order to eat the meat and spit out the bones.
Oh, and you crocheted squares are beautiful! I love the colors you chose. And, I voted for you on Top Momma ~
Why do you want to decrease the amount of time on the computer? I’ve been feeling the same way. Just curious.
I love reading about your family events. You draw me in and make me feel like a part of the family. I wish I lived close enough to come celebrate birthdays with you.
The crocheted square are fabulous! I’ve been itching to learn to crochet or knit, but there is this unfinished quilt project that I just hafta get done first. It’s a gift for my mom which she knows about. Now she is just wondering what YEAR she will receive it. Well, at least I discovered that hand quilting is not for me.
Love you,
amanda
Hoo boy… did I relate to your birthday present. I recently bough a CD about Piligrims and Indians and I had high hopes — I’m in a direct line from the Mayflower and I often get distraught over the misrepresentation of the Pilgrim relationship to the Indians. On the other hand, I also have Native American friends and lineage… and I was more distraught over the CD. For starters it came across sounding like all Native Americans were practicing cannibalism, which I can find no proof of. I also can’t fnd anyplace in the Bible that says that conversion means you adopt a whole new unrelated culture, and I CAN find a lot in Capitalism that encourages sinful behavior. Sin will find it’s way in everywhere because we live in a fallen world.
Right now, as a missionary mainly to Eskimo culture, I can say that I find a lot in their culture that would be a blessing for the church… there are some attitudes and things that seem more Christian than what I find in most churches, and when they come to salvation in Christ, if we see them as our true brothers and sisters in the Lord and accept what they bring as a gift instead of Lording over what we brought to them, we will all have a richer life, spiritual and otherwise. I don’t want to lose the gifts they bring… but this attitude that The Little Drummer Boy’s gift isn’t good enough unsettles me… missionaries here fail, not because they water down the gospel but because there is too much attitude that we are above… only we call it Christianity and not pride. “We’re happy to pat ourselves on the back for seeing you saved and we certainly want your tithe, but because of the sin that has already visited your life due to you being raised out here outside a strong Christian community you’ll never be able to teach Sunday school and serve with the rest of us, so just sit back and listen… it’s okay, that’s all God wants you to do and he HAS forgiven your sins, so just sit there and look blessed.”
I haven’t thrown out the CD or anything but honestly I haven’t even listened to the other ones I bought in the same order… I’m almost afraid to listen to them. I wonder what might get past me in areas of history I know less about. At least with the Indian issue I can be a little more discerning because I have some real education (not public school based). This isn’t to say that everything on the CD was bad or that there was nothing useful… mostly that I am deeply disappointed and find it confusing at times how the church can learn to balance these things out.
God Bless, Sister!
Hi Sandi,
Sorry if this question has an obvious answer, but what does ETA stand for? I’ve seen it a couple times now on your blog, and I have always thought it meant Estimated Time of Arrival. But that obviously isn’t right in this case.
I looked up other possibilities, and had fun trying to imagine if one of these could be right:
http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/eta
So now I’m wondering if it’s just another one of your secret three-letter combinations known only to your friends.

ETA means “edited to add”, so you know what has been changed from my original post. I am not a deletist! LOL! and just in case a discussion gets interesting I like you to know what I’ve altered.
Can I just tell you how much I LOVE your visits here? (To my blog as well as in person!) LOVE YOU, CUZ! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

Ok, now you have me wondering what exact problem you had with Rushdooney set. We have a set of his (not the same as you) haven’t listened yet. Not doubting you but I find it hard to believe that Vision Forum would sell anything with racist overtones on their site. (please email me privately if you don’t wanna share publically as this has been a set that we have been wanting too).
LOVE your granny squares. They are beautiful! I always get confused when doing them on where I’m at if I have to set it down.
Have a blessed day!
Christine
HI Christine! I will e-mail you privately. Please know that I have not listened to the tape set yet~I do plan to and make an educated decision. It’s possible that the tape set might be just fine! (((((HUGS))))) sandi
I like your blog!
I don’t think that the Lord will be upset that you are proud of your needlework
. As long as you don’t rave about it. I don’t envy you trying to get a dust free environment! That’s a tough one to have to go through, but it will be worth it in the end.
Hugs to you.
