ETA that the above is a clickable button so you can begin this study for yourself!!!! This post shares my thoughts on Week 3.
OH do I love 1 Peter 3:1-6!!! I mean, what is a wife to do when she is SURE she is SO MUCH MORE SPIRITUAL than her husband? ~insert sarcasm here~ This is so important to me because of my background with ladies’ meetings and groups. The ridicule of anyone whose husband might drink a beer and watch a game~OH MY! ~GASP~ Now this woman goes home discontent due to such pressure and possibly becomes a nag to her man on what he’s not doing right, choosing not to see that he comes home to her every night or provides well or diligently prays and reads the Bible, etc. When problems then arise in the marriage, the same peers then counsel her to work on her marriage~that it must not fail. WHAT? Can’t they see their part in it to begin with? OH LOL!
I *personally* don’t see anything wrong with a beer and a game at all, but if there were behaviors that bothered me I would lean on 1 Peter 3:1-6, “won without a word….”
Sunny goes on to share that husbands and wives are equally valuable in the sight of God. OH YES do I believe this!!!!! Here is her (paraphrased by me) example: ”Jesus was equal with God but did not consider equality with God something to be grasped or to work His will, but submitted to the will of the Father in all things.” I have sooo many thoughts runnin’ through my head that I cannot even pen them! Just, HALLELUJAH! We are to be like Christ. ~smile~
The homework is AWESOME, and as I am convicted of my sins it is not concerning my relationship with my darling. Don’t get me wrong~I am SO FAR from perfect! I have not “arrived”! but my struggles are in other areas.
You must read on to “a thought to ponder”! OH how we women don’t understand our power~that we are to use that power for good and not for evil~LOL! Oh how easily we can tear our man down, rip away his confidence, and just totally bring him to nothing. Just as easily we can choose to build him up!!!! That’s who I wanna be…. (((((HUGS))))) sandi
ETA that I find I am signing Sunny’s Mr. Linky under each study only to find that there is more TREASURE underneath! LOL! Sunny shares with us the difference between a wife who submits and a wife who obeys. I can see in my own marriage that as I learned about Biblical womanhood years ago that I started out with obedience and not submission. I still think “practicing” in this time was beneficial, though not ideal, and I finally had a submissive heart sometime after our second son was born nine years ago. Maybe this is why I’ve had trouble finding my voice again though? Not that the attitude is still there… I’m not quite sure how to explain it!

i love this. i’ve seen this. i’ve had this done to me. LOL. God is Good!
I felt this same pressure and judgment when reading books on how to be a good Christian wife/mother/homeschool mom. I finally had to throw a lot of books out the window and be so much more careful about what I allowed in my brain. Sounds like this one is a winner.
love you,
amanda
Bless you for this. Would that all Christian women studied such things and loved their husbands this much. The concept of Biblical equality between men and women in terms of sin, worth and gifts sorely needs to be taught more.
